RICE is the local chapter of "Illinois Computing Educators" serving Northern and Western Illinois. We have chosen the name RICE representing the Rock Island Area Computing Educators. Membership is open to anyone in the field of education who is interested in using technology to enhance and expand student learning (administrators, teachers, librarians, aides, counselors, secretaries, school support staff, etc.) To be a member of RICE you must also be a member of ICE. Visit the ICE website at www.iceberg.org to learn more about joining ICE if you are not currently a member.
The purpose of RICE is to encourage the development and use of computers and technology in all facets of the educational process; assist in the professional growth of its members and others interested parties through the use of technology and computers; distribute information state wide about computing and technology; and build a support network among its' members.
RICE members will serve as a resource for each other in technology information, integration, opportunity, sharing, and learning.
RICE will meet every other month in the evenings. We will rotate meetings among schools and districts. Meetings will be an opportunity to share technology practices through software, hardware, resources, integration, systems, Internet, and more.
We are recruiting membership to RICE. If you are currently a member of ICE, please let us know and we will add you to our membership e-mailings. If you would like to join or want more information, please visit the ICE website (www.iceberg.org) and contact one of our officers.
