Thursday Keynote Speaker
Peter Reynolds


Peter Reynolds is a NY Times best-selling author and illustrator, a renowned public speaker, and the founder of FableVision, an award-winning educational multimedia company co-located at the Boston Children's Museum. Peter inspires kids and “grown up kids” with his messages about authentic learning, creativity, and self-expression. His books The Dot, Ish, and The North Star are popular in classrooms around the world. The Dot, Peter’s signature book, encourages readers to be brave and “make their mark!”  



Thursday Luncheon Keynote Speaker
Karen Cator

Karen Cator is the Director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to joining the department, Cator directed Apple's leadership and advocacy efforts in education. In this role, she focused on the intersection of education policy and research, emerging technologies, and the reality faced by teachers, students and administrators. Cator holds a Masters in school administration from the University of Oregon and Bachelors in early childhood education from Springfield College. She is the past chair of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills and has served on the several boards including the Software & Information Industry Association.


Friday Keynote Speaker
William Rankin

Dr. William Rankin is an associate professor of English and Director of Educational Innovation at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. He helped design the initiative that became ACU Connected, ACU’s pioneering one-to-one that gave every student an iPhone or iPod touch as a platform for exploring next-wave mobile learning. As project lead, Rankin was named Campus Technology’s Innovator of the Year for mobile learning in 2008. In 2009, he was named an Apple Distinguished Educator and in 2010, he was named to Apple's ADE Board of Directors. Rankin has also contributed to stories featured on US National Public Radio, the BBC, the CBC and NBC Nightly News.

Steve Dembo
A former kindergarten teacher and school Director of Technology, Discovery Education’s Director of Social Media Strategy and Online Community, Steve Dembo, is a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. Among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies to connect educators to one another and create professional learning communities, Steve is also a dynamic speaker on the capabilities of social networking, the power of educational technologies and Web 2.0 tools, and the ability of digital content to empower teachers to improve student achievement.

Kevin Honeycutt
Kevin grew up in poverty and his family moved a lot. As he witnessed education around the country he collected powerful experiences that still influence his conversations and his work with educators. He spent 13 years teaching art K-12 in public school and spent 17 summers leading creative, adventure camps for kids. For the past three years Kevin has hosted a creative learning site called ArtSnacks (http://artsnacks.org) where he shares 150+ ten minute drawing videos. Kevin is currently serving his eighth year as a Technology Integration Specialist at ESSDACK, an educational service center based in Hutchinson, Kansas

Joe Morelock
As Director of Technology and Innovation for the Canby School District, Joe Morelock serves nearly 5,000 K-12 students. In his 18 years in education, his positions have included high school Spanish teacher, school librarian and assessment coordinator. Joe is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and has developed and delivered mobile content and training on the use of the iPod and iPad in the United States and for Argentina’s Ministry of Education. Joe is currently implementing a variety of iPod Touch and iPad initiatives in Canby.

Barbara Barreda
Barbara has been involved in the integration of technology across the curriculum since the early 1990’s as a classroom teacher and as a K-8 administrator in California. As an administrator she has initiated 1:1 programs, developed teacher training, coordinated numerous global projects and runs a technology conference at her school site. Her innovative ideas have been featured online, in magazines and as case studies. She is a Google Certified Teacher, a Discovery Star educator, and believes that a good administrator needs to lead by example.
Adam Bellow
Adam is the founder of eduTecher, a free web resource for teachers, students, and parents that finds and explains how to use free Webtools in the classroom. He also currently works as the Director of Educational Technology for The College Board Schools. Recently named 
Outstanding Young Educator of the Year by ISTE, Adam has presented at conferences across the country and all around the world speaking about the merit of free web based tools. You can check out Adam's site at eduTecher.net or download the free mobile applications.
Kathy Cassidy
Kathy is a first grade teacher who creatively incorporates technology into her daily classroom activities to give her students an authentic audience for their work and a portal to the world. She uses a wide variety of tools to enhance her students’ learning including blogs, Skype, wikis and video. Her students begin blogging the first week of school, creating their own personal online portfolios that showcase what they learn over the school year. Michelle Luhtala
Michelle is Department Chair of New Canaan High School (CT) Library, which won the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) 2010 National School Library Program of the Year Award. Ms. Luhtala facilitates an online professional learning community for school librarians called Using Emerging Technology to Improve Your Library Program at edWeb.net. Michelle is a contributing author for two forthcoming book projects for Libraries Unlimited. Michelle is an advocate for free-range media and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies in K-12 education. She blogs at Bibliotech.me.  

Katie Morrow
Katie Morrow is currently serving as middle school teacher and technology integration specialist for O'Neill Public Schools.  In this role she has been fortunate to lead the school in a 1:1 laptop initiative called "24/7 Learning."  Katie has worked extensively on the development, implementation, and sharing of Challenge Based Learning.  She has been honored as NETA's "Technology Educator of the Year" and is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, and SMART Exemplary Educator. She is passionate about her role in helping educators both near and far Teach42Morrow.

Jon Orech
Jon Orech taught English and coached football for 24 years before becoming the instructional technology coordinator at Downers Grove South High School in Illinois. He also is an instructor for Aurora University.  His presentations and workshops include a wide variety of topics including digital storytelling, online collaboration, visual literacy, and creating for authentic audience and purpose. Instead of “integrating technology,” he promotes changing classroom structures.  Away from school, he savors the "Four F's": Family, Football, Fishing, and Food.

Kim Zimmer
Kim Zimmer has been working in educational technology for eight years. She currently works as a technology facilitator at Avoca West Elementary School in Glenview, Illinois. She is a proponent of student-directed learning, project-based learning, student blogging and 1:1 laptop environments in the elementary classroom. Kim is a Google Certified Teacher, has attended the Google Geo Teacher!s Academy and contributes to the Google EduCast on http://EdReach.us.
